Thanks to the popularity of Korean dramas, Pohang, a city in North Gyeongsang Province, is now emerging as a popular Hallyu tourist destination. The city officials have confirmed that dramas shot against the natural scenery of the region are gaining popularity, with an increasing number of tourists visiting filming locations.


The recently aired MBC drama Season of Kokdu showcased many beautiful spots in Pohang, including Odogani Beach in Heunghae-eup, Buk-gu, Sabang Memorial Park, and Song Ramen Cafe, all of which are gaining traction as must-visit travel destinations due to word of mouth on social media. Cheongha Gongjin Market, which was featured in the 2021 drama Cha Cha Cha, is still being visited by many people, along with other picturesque locations such as Sabang Memorial Park, Kunlunsan Mountain, Wolpo Beach, Igari Anchor Observatory, and Guryongpo Seokbyeong-ri.


Guryongpo, where the 2019 hit drama When the Camellia Blooms was filmed, is another must-see location for tourists visiting Pohang. In February, the Korea Tourism Organization even selected Cheongha Gongjin Market and Guryongpo as recommended travel destinations for their Hallyu-themed travel campaign.


Currently, four more dramas are being filmed or discussed in Pohang, and the city plans to capitalize on the tourism potential of these filming locations by offering differentiated tourist attractions as part of their tourism products.


In addition to the natural beauty of the region, Pohang also plans to enhance tourism competitiveness by promoting planning competition-type regional tourism development projects, such as content development for gastronomy tourism, and marine tourism. For example, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking view of Jusangjeolli from the observatory in Odori or catch media art screenings at the central staircase of Guryongpo Park.


The head of Pohang's Convention and Tourism Industry Department, Park Sang-jin, stated that the city aims to create a tourism and cultural city where every moment feels like a drama, and every moment spent in Pohang is an unforgettable trip.

Mamamoo Announces First World Tour Since Debut, Including Performance in New York

K-pop girl group Mamamoo is set to embark on their first world tour since their debut, following a successful string of performances in Asia. According to their agency RBW on March 16, Mamamoo will hold concerts in nine cities in the United States, starting in New York on May 16 (local time), followed by performances in Baltimore, Atlanta, Nashville, Fort Worth, Chicago, Glendale, Auckland, and Los Angeles. Last November, Mamamoo completed a total of 15 performances in nine Asian regions with their "MY CON" concert, following their Seoul performance. The group's first world tour, titled "MAMAMOO WORLD TOUR 'MY CON'", will take them to North America and New Zealand.
